Memories
Aneita Sharples Radov

When Dr. Jackson assumed the chairmanship of the BGSU Biology Department, he "inherited" me as the department secretary, allowing me to continue the job that not only supported me financially, but provided amazing windows on a world that I could not have experienced otherwise.  His office provided the nexus of my social life at BGSU, as well, enabling contact with many interesting people and opening the door to lifelong friendships.  He challenged me to venture forth, encouraging me to accept my first teaching job in Anchorage, Alaska.  As the babysitter for the Jackson children, I enjoyed a sense of trust and family connection that was incredibly meaningful to a young woman seeking a life path and a place to belong.  My life has been immeasurably enriched by my relationships with the whole Jackson family and I shall be forever grateful as I attempt to pass these gifts on to others.

Charlie Crabb

As an undergraduate at the University of California I was late to find my academic interest. For that reason I did not have the GPA that many universities were looking for when admitting new graduate students. However, after communicating with Dr. Jackson he saw something in me that made him take a chance. He made the effort to convince the graduate admissions committee at Bowling Green State University to offer me a conditional admittance into the Masters program. It was under Dr. Jackson's guidance that I developed my interest in applied research, received my first lessons in project management, and developed a love for life long learning. My career has taken me through research, teaching, university administration, and now adult leadership development positions. I owe my success in part to the direction that Dr. Jackson provided to a young emerging academic back in the early 1970s. Charlie Crabb Masters Student 1973-1974.
